The evening of January 9th was particularly cold. I ran upstairs and crawled into my bed, but even that did not thaw my frozen bones.  The pain in my shoulder was worse than normal, which could have been from the chill in the air, or perhaps I pulled a muscle during kickboxing class. All I knew was that I couldn’t do anything; not even heating pads would ease my pain.

And so I just laid there, on my bed, crying helplessly until I eventually fell asleep.  I woke up randomly at around 3am without any noticeable pain. Then, for some unknown reason, I was moved to walk into my office where I soon found myself standing in front of my computer, reading the text of a blog post I had recently started to write. At the top of the page were the lyrics to “A New Day Has Come,” by Celine Dion. I had written them down because the lyrics reminded me of a message a friend had received from The Voice to share with me during our prayer together on January 6,2016.

The message she heard was telling me to rejoice, to be filled with His love and that He would send His angels to provide all for me. The night before, I listened to this song again and loved it so much that I told myself; maybe I would write an article about it. I was drawn to this song not only because of Celine Dion’s beautiful voice, but because of the title of the song. Something about this song was very familiar to me and so close to my heart. When I woke up at 3am, I found the video for Celine Dion’s song, “A New Day Has Come” on YouTube and I added it to my post, above the lyrics. After that, I listened to the song on repeat, allowing myself to be consumed by her words and the captivating harmonies.

After a couple of hours I grew very tired and eventually decided to go back to sleep at around 5am. I fell asleep quickly and soon a boy appeared, walking next to me in my dreams. We were approaching a river when I noticed that it was running quite deep. Suddenly, the boy jumped into the water.

“No, no!” I shouted as I tried to stop him, but it was too late. I remember feeling so worried and anxious for his safety, but a sense of calm overcame my body as a beautiful and colorful butterfly appeared on top of the river, right above where the boy had jumped in. “He must be an angel,” I murmured to myself.

My dream continued as I journeyed toward a tall mountain in the distance. As I was walking, I felt reassured that I was walking my life path. Then a young man in his early forties appeared.  He seemed very kind, gentle and caring. He walked silently, next to me on my path.

I remember encountering times when it was hard for me to physically walk, and other times when I turned to purposefully walk away from people. No matter what direction my path would take me, He was always right there beside me. His presence made me feel safe, and at the same time, I felt abundant love and assurance. I was traveling my own personal journey, yet I wasn’t alone – and this put me as ease.

During my dream I could feel warmth returning to my shoulder and arm. I could literally feel myself healing in my sleep – a sensation I will never forget. I woke up a bit confused, and although the pain hasn’t completely vanished yet, it is much better than it was prior to my dream.

I woke up very merrily, and I felt like I had a wonderful and rejuvenating night’s sleep. When I saw the lyrics of “A New Day Has Come” on my computer again, it all clicked: It was just as God’s message indicated – he sent an angel to protect me. Oh, yes! He did. He revealed this to me in my dream.

The lyrics to the song capture it all so beautifully, “I can’t believe I’ve been touched by an angel.” The truth to these words behold an even deeper meaning in my life after the past several days of heavy rains here in Los Angeles. Each drop of rain helped to “wash away my tears, fill my soul drown my fears, shatter the walls, For a new sun, A new day has come, A new day has come.”

Indeed, a new day has come…
