A man had been walking in the desert for two days when he was unexpectedly caught in a sandstorm. After it finally ended, he realized that he could no longer tell which direction his destination lay. Just when he was about to give up and die, he suddenly saw a dilapidated hut.
He dragged his exhausted body into the hut. It consisted of a small, poorly ventilated room with some rotten firewood inside. He searched the corners of the room, despairing, and was surprised to find a water pump. He excitedly attempted to draw water, but no matter how hard he tried, not a drop came out. He sat down in frustration and saw a small bottle next to the water pump, sealed with a cork. There was a yellowed note on the bottle that read: You must pour water into the pump to get water! Don’t forget to fill the bottle with water before you leave! He pulled out the cork and discovered that the bottle was indeed full of water!
His mind was torn between two thoughts:
If he were selfish, he could just drink the water in the bottle. This would guarantee his survival, but then he would leave the pump useless for others, assuming that the note was correct.
If he followed the directions and poured the water into the pump, there was a risk that the pump would still not work and he would waste the water and end up dying of thirst.
After a long internal struggle, he decided to pour all the water in the bottle into the antique water pump. With trembling hands, he tried the pump again, and water gushed out in abundance!
After drinking his fill, he filled the bottle with water, corked it, and added his own words to the back of the note: Believe me, it works. Before you take, you must first give.

他興奮地上前汲水，卻任憑他怎麼抽水，也抽不出半滴來。他頹然坐地，卻看見抽水機旁，有一個用軟木塞，堵住瓶口的小瓶子，瓶上貼了一張泛黃的紙條，紙條上寫著：你必須用水灌入抽水機才能引水！不要忘了，在你離開前，請再將水裝滿！他拔開瓶塞，發現瓶子裏，果然裝滿了水！
他的內心，此時開始交戰著—–
如果自私點，只要將瓶子裏的喝掉，他就不會渴死，就能活著走出這間屋子 ！
如果照紙條做，把瓶子裏唯一的水，倒入抽水機內，萬一水一去不回，他就會渴死在這地方了——-到底要不要冒險？
最後，他決定把瓶子裏唯一的水，全部灌入看起來破舊不堪的抽水機裏，以顫抖的手汲水,水真的大量涌了出來！
他將水喝足後，把瓶子裝滿水，用軟木塞封好，然後在原來那張紙條後面，再加他自己的話：相信我，真的有用。在取得之前，要先學會付出。
