Bonus Chapter (2) — From Fighting to Protecting, From Anger to Love

— A reader’s words helped me see myself in a new way.

After reading So This Was the Answer All Along,

a reader left a comment:

“From fighting to protecting, from anger to love,
you successfully completed the lesson this experience came to teach you.”

I sat with those words for a long time.

Because I suddenly realized:
Perhaps he saw something
before I saw it myself.

Later, I remembered something else.

It was during my first documentary interview.

The filmmaker asked me a question:
“What was the more than seven hundred thousand dollars originally intended for?”

I told him:
“It was my children’s education fund.
Perhaps it could help my son.

Perhaps one day,
it could help take care of my granddaughter.”

Then he asked:
“Now that it’s gone, does it make a difference?”

I answered:
“I only hope they will be proud of me.”

Not because of how much money I left behind.
But because they know that,
even after losing everything,
I still chose to stand back up.

I still chose to love.
I still chose to protect those who needed protection.

At the time,
I did not know why I answered that way.

Today, I finally understand.

Because many answers
are already within us.

We simply have not seen them yet.

Looking back after all these years,

what I lost was finite.
What I gained cannot be measured in money.

I thought I was fighting scammers.
In reality,I was learning how to protect others.

I thought I was dealing with anger.
In reality,I was learning how to love.

I thought I had lost my future.
In reality,God was leading me toward a future I had never imagined.

Only today do I truly understand:

Money is finite.
Purpose is infinite.

And on an even deeper level,

I now see that this journey
was never really about money.

It was about love.

The more than seven hundred thousand dollars I lost
was originally intended for love.

And what later sustained me
was love.

What carried me through the darkness
was love.

What led me onto a path I never expected
was also love.

And so I finally understand:

Some things can be taken away.
Some things can never be taken away.

And love
is one of them.

So this was the answer all along.

And the answer
is still unfolding.

These two bonus chapters
capture two moments in the same journey.

The first was the moment I stood on the award stage
and finally saw the answer.

when I looked back and saw how that answer had unfolded throughout my life.

From fighting to protecting.

is love.
