Three Lessons from A Father

As a child, I was selfish,
I always put myself first before anyone else,
Not caring about other people’s feelings,
As a result, my companions left me one by one.
And for that, I was very distressed,
I blamed the others behind their backs.

One evening, my father cooked two bowls of noodles.
There was an egg on one bowl of noodles,
The other dish looked like it had nothing in it.

My father asked me which bowl do I want to take?

Eggs were precious food at that time,
We don’t usually have egg on our table, except on holidays and birthdays.
I certainly won’t miss such an opportunity.
So, I did not hesitate to choose the bowl with an egg.

I made the wrong choice.
As I finished the egg in triumph,
I was surprised to find two eggs hidden at the bottom of my father’s bowl.
I regretted it and hated myself for being too eager.

Seeing this, my father smiled and said to me:
“Remember, my son, what the eye sees may not be accurate,
Those who try to take advantage of others will suffer great losses in the end. “

The next night, my father cooked two bowls of noodles.
It was still a bowl of noodles with an egg on it,
The other bowl looked like it had no egg in it.

My father gave me a choice. I learned my lesson this time.
Choose the bowl with no eggs on it.
Father stared at me silently without saying a word.

I quickly picked up my chopsticks and pulled the noodles away.
I expected two white eggs to lie beneath,
But soon I was disappointed to find that there was nothing at the bottom.

Then my father said to me meaningfully:
“Remember, my son, don’t over trust the experience,
because life will cheat you sometimes.
But you need not be angry or sad, make it life experience,
It is something you can’t learn from books. “

On the third night, my father cooked two bowls of noodles,
One bowl of noodles with a white egg on it,
The other bowl looked like nothing in it.

My father gave me the first choice, and this time, I did not act rashly.
I said to him,
“Father, you are the elder! And for the family and me you have done too much, please choose first! “

Father did not refuse, and he chose the bowl with an egg on it without hesitation.

The bowl that was left, I guessed, had no eggs.
But unexpectedly, I was fortunate to have two eggs lying at the bottom of the bowl.

My father looked up, his eyes full of love, and he said to me lightly:
“Remember, my son, when you think about others, and good luck will come to you.”
