Enlightenment from the Buddha

The poor man asked the Buddha, “Why am I so poor?”
The Buddha said, “You have not learned to give others.”
The poor man replied, “How can I give when I have nothing?”
The Buddha said, “A person can give others seven things even if they have nothing.

Give by face by doing things with a smile.
Give by mouth by speaking words of praise and comfort.
Give by heart by opening your heart to be kind to others.
Give by eye by being good and righteous to others.
Give by body by helping others with your actions.
Give by seat by taking a seat and being humble.
Give by foundation by having tolerance toward others.”
